Ingredients

Essential Ingredients:

  • Croissant dough (store-bought or homemade) Provides the buttery, flaky layers that make this treat irresistible.
  • Chocolate chip cookie dough (homemade or pre-made) The heart of the recipe, creating that chewy, gooey center.
  • 1 Egg Gives the croissant a golden, crispy finish.
  • 1 tbsp Milk Gives the croissant a golden, crispy finish.
  • Chocolate chips or chunks (optional) For an extra layer of rich, melted chocolate goodness.
  • ½ tsp Vanilla extract (optional) Enhances the warm, bakery-fresh aroma.
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting) Adds a light, sweet touch to finish.

Optional Add-Ins & Variations:

  • Nutella or peanut butter (For a creamy) indulgent surprise inside.
  • Sea salt flakes Balances the sweetness and elevates the flavors.
  • Caramel drizzle For those who love a sweet, buttery caramel touch
  • Crushed nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, or pecans) Adds a delightful crunch.

Instructions

Preheat and Prep

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures the croissants bake up golden and crispy.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.

Roll Out the Dough

  • If you're using store-bought croissant dough, carefully unroll it and separate the triangles. If you're making your own dough, roll it out into a rectangle and cut into triangles.
  • Make sure the dough is cold—this helps achieve the flaky texture we love in croissants.

Add the Cookie Dough Filling

  • Place about 1 tablespoon of cookie dough near the wide end of each triangle.
  • Feel free to add a few chocolate chips or chunks on top of the cookie dough for extra richness.
  • For a sweeter twist, drizzle in some Nutella or peanut butter before rolling.

Roll and Seal

  • Gently roll each dough triangle from the wide end to the point, tightening slightly as you go to hold the filling inside.
  • Tuck the ends of the croissant slightly under to prevent the filling from leaking during baking.

Egg Wash and Bake

  • Brush each croissant with an egg wash (1 beaten egg mixed with 1 tablespoon of milk) to give it that shiny, golden finish.
  • Arrange the croissants on your baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one for expansion.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the croissants are golden brown and crispy on the outside, and the cookie filling is melted inside.

Finish with a Sweet Touch

  • Once your cookie croissants are out of the oven, let them cool for a few minutes.
  • Dust with powdered sugar for a sweet, delicate finish or drizzle with extra chocolate or caramel for added richness.
